The Straits Times Wins Top Regional Award for Taylor Swift Infographics and Opinion Piece on Malaysia Politics
Singapore’s Leading Newspaper Recognised at Society of Publishers in Asia Awards
SINGAPORE – The Straits Times (ST) has won a prestigious regional award for its creative infographic series on American superstar Taylor Swift, alongside an opinion piece on Malaysia’s political landscape.
Ahead of Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated concerts in Singapore in March 2024, ST released nine full-page infographic posters between February 17 and 25, 2024. Each infographic highlighted one of Swift’s nine studio albums or “eras,” collectively forming a giant, collectible image of the pop icon.
This innovative project earned The Straits Times the award for regional excellence in infographics at the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards on June 26. SOPA, based in Hong Kong, recognises journalistic excellence across the Asia Pacific region.
The accolade reflects ST’s commitment to combining visual storytelling with high-quality journalism to engage and inform readers.
