Temasek Holdings Undergoes Strategic Leadership Restructuring to Navigate Global Challenges
emasek Holdings, the state investment company of Singapore, is restructuring its leadership in a major bid to improve agility and performance in a changing global economic environment. The restructuring entails setting up three separate entities and a strategic leadership shift in line with shifting market dynamics.
Strategic Restructuring: Three New Entities
Temasek will restructure its operations into three wholly owned entities effective April 1, 2026
Temasek Global Investments (TGI): Positioning for global investment opportunities with longer-term trends.
Temasek Singapore (TSG): Managing strategic home assets like Singapore Airlines and PSA International.
Temasek Partnership Solutions (TPS): Managing asset and fund management activities.
This reorganization would give each segment clearer accountability and performance measurements, enabling more focused strategies and operating efficiency.
Leadership Transition: Dilhan Pillay and Chia Song Hwee
As part of the reorganisation, Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara, who is the current CEO of Temasek Holdings, will move to the Chairman position for the newly created Temasek Global Investments, Temasek Singapore, and Temasek Partnership Solutions from April 1, 2026. He will remain Executive Director and CEO of Temasek Holdings and Temasek International.
Chia Song Hwee, existing Deputy CEO, will take on the role of Temasek International Co-CEO from 1 October 2025. He will also head Temasek Global Investments as its CEO and be Deputy Chairman of the three new companies.
Reasons for Restructuring
The reorganization is motivated by the imperative of adjusting to a fast-evolving global landscape defined by advances in technology, regulatory changes, and geopolitical tensions. Dilhan Pillay underscored the need for short-term flexibility and long-term foresight in meeting these challenges. Laggard returns against benchmark returns over the past decade have not eroded Temasek’s 20-year return, which highlights the imperative for strategic reorientation to maintain momentum.
Empowering Leadership for Future Growth
The succession of leadership is also a strategic step to develop the next generation of Temasek leaders. Appointing Chia Song Hwee as Co-CEO and CEO of Temasek Global Investments, the company seeks to develop leaders who are able to guide the firm to its long-term goals. This plan falls within Temasek’s larger strategy, T2040, to become ready to face challenges and capitalize on opportunities in the future.
