SingPost Names Mark Chong as New Group CEO, Sets Sights on Tech-Driven Logistics Transformation
Singapore, 25 September 2025 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mark Chong as its new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), effective 1 November 2025, as part of its consistent efforts to reposition itself as a premier logistics and e-commerce player in the Asia-Pacific region.
At 62, Chong has 28 years of experience in senior positions at Singtel across telecom, technology, and global business.
He has been acting in the position of Singtel’s Group Chief Corporate Officer since January 2025, a position which he assumed after two years as Deputy CEO of AIS (Advanced Info Service) in Thailand.
A New Chapter for SingPost
SingPost’s new leadership is well-timed amid major change for the company. It has experienced a shake-up at management since the sacking of its previous Group CEO, Vincent Phang, its CFO Vincent Yik and head of its international business division Li Yu in December 2024, after in-house probes into how a whistle-blower complaint was handled.
The board of the company later stressed a “strategic reset” and transformation, especially in logistics, parcels and eCommerce, and business operations at large.
The Teo Swee Lian-led board was confident that Chong would take SingPost through this pivotal period. “His experience of handling large-scale operations, technological transformation, and leading global businesses is suited to SingPost’s business requirements,” said Teo.
Likewise, Chong himself commented on the potential to capitalize on SingPost’s legacy as a highly regarded national postal service provider, while driving its transition into a “dynamic, technology-led logistics leader.” He stated that the use of technology will be at the heart of the strategy going forward.
Qualifications & Key Responsibilities
Mark Chong’s decades-long Singtel tenure encompassed a wide range of relevant fields. One of his positions has been Chief Technology Officer, in which he over directed technology strategy and innovation including on mobile networks, and CEO of Singtel International, managing the company’s international associate businesses. He has also been in leadership roles in global telecoms and regulatory boards.
Academically, he has a bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering and a master’s in research in Electronic Systems from ENSERG, Grenoble (France) as well as an MBA from the National University of Singapore.
In his role as Group CEO, Chong will head SingPost’s executive management team, consisting of Group Chief Operating Officer Neo Su Yin, Group Chief Financial Officer Isaac Mah, and Chief Legal Officer & Company Secretary Jonathan Ooi.
His job is set to involve guiding transformation in core operations, building last-mile logistics, growing e-commerce fulfillment and international freight forwarding, and ensuring the group stays competitive in a rapidly changing market.
Challenges Ahead
Although the appointment is widely seen as a positive move, SingPost has a number of headwinds which Chong will have to steer it through:
Financial performance: Other than a one-off profit from its disposal of its Australian business, SingPost in its latest results posted a steep decline in underlying profits, and more specifically, in the second half of its financial year.
Rebuilding trust & governance: After the scandals on whistle-blower matters and executive dismissals, there should be ensuring of stability within, robust oversight, and openness.
Business model transformation: As letter mail volumes fall around the world and competition in e-commerce/logistics grows, SingPost needs to upgrade operations, embrace technology, and offer efficiencies with service standards intact.
Looking Forward
Chong’s appointment signals the conclusion of the board search for a new chief following more than a year without a full-time Group CEO after the exit of its former leadership team. SingPost looks forward to his stewardship reinvigorating its transformation plan.
For employees, customers, and stakeholders alike, the success or otherwise will be whether the transition to a more technology-oriented, responsive logistics service provider can be accomplished successfully. With Chong at the helm, SingPost can reboot its strategy, restore organisational resilience, and restore faith in its capacity to lead postal, logistics, and cross-border trade across the Asia Pacific.
