Singapore Landmarks Glow Green and White for DrugFreeSG Campaign

Iconic Buildings Light Up to Mark International Day Against Drug Abuse

SINGAPORE – On the evening of June 26, Singapore’s skyline was illuminated in green and white to show support for the annual DrugFreeSG Light-Up campaign. The initiative, organised by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), coincided with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

From 7:30 pm until midnight, 48 prominent buildings and public spaces across the island, including Parliament House and the iconic Marina Bay Sands, were bathed in the campaign’s signature colours. Green symbolizes health, while white represents strength and vitality — the core messages of the Anti-Drug Ribbon.

A Visual Stand Against Drug Abuse

The lighting event aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to strengthen community resolve to combat illicit drugs. By using well-known landmarks as backdrops, the campaign seeks to capture attention and reinforce the message that a drug-free lifestyle benefits all Singaporeans.

Central Narcotics Bureau’s Role

The CNB leads national efforts in drug prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation. The annual Light-Up campaign is one of its key public outreach initiatives designed to engage the community and inspire collective action.

In addition to the lighting event, the CNB regularly conducts educational programs, youth outreach, and enforcement operations to reduce drug abuse in Singapore.

Community Support and Impact

The DrugFreeSG campaign invites everyone—from families and schools to businesses and civic groups—to participate in creating a drug-free society. The visual spectacle of landmarks glowing green and white serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility to keep Singapore safe and healthy.

Looking Ahead

As Singapore continues its fight against drug abuse, events like the DrugFreeSG Light-Up provide a symbolic but powerful rallying point. Public awareness and community involvement remain critical in reducing the impact of drugs on individuals and society.
