India and Singapore Ministers Discuss Strengthening Ties in Digitalisation, Skills, and Industrial Parks
India and Singapore reaffirmed their strong partnership and discussed ways to deepen cooperation across key sectors including digitalisation, skills development, and industrial park collaboration during the third India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) on August 13. The event coincided with Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong’s visit to India, leading a six-member delegation from Singapore.
The meeting focused on expanding cross-border data flows, semiconductor skills training, and joint industrial initiatives. Both countries also explored possibilities in green energy, such as exporting green fuels from India to Singapore and establishing a green shipping corridor between Paradeep Port and Singapore to facilitate sustainable maritime trade.
Singaporean firms, supported by government-level discussions, are accelerating their entry into semiconductor manufacturing in India. Meanwhile, Singapore is actively aiding India’s workforce development through dedicated skills centers designed to enhance capabilities in emerging technologies.
A Ministry of Foreign Affairs press statement emphasized the longstanding close relationship between the two nations, built on strong economic cooperation and people-to-people connections. The roundtable serves as a platform to boost collaboration in future-focused sectors, driving shared growth and innovation.
