Liberty Singapore, which is the insurance business from Liberty Mutual Insurance Group has announced that Jimmy Tong is now the Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Singapore. This change is effective from 27 April 2026. This is a deal for Liberty Singapore because it means they have a new leader for their operations, in Singapore. Jimmy Tong is the leader of Liberty Singapore.
The move happens at a time for Libertys business in Singapore. They just combined two parts. Liberty Insurance and Liberty Specialty Markets. Into one unit. This unit works under one insurance licence. It started on 1 January 2026. Liberty did this to make things easier for customers offer products and make Liberty stronger in the insurance market in Southeast Asia. Liberty wants to be a player in this market. The insurance market, in Southeast Asia is always changing,. Liberty needs to be strong to compete. Libertys Singapore business will be better because of this change.
A Strategic Leadership Choice
Jimmy Tong has a lot of experience in the insurance and financial services field. He is now in a role. Before he joined Liberty Singapore Jimmy Tong worked at Great Eastern Life Assurance in Singapore for ten years. At Great Eastern Life Assurance Jimmy Tong was in charge of group insurance. He did a job of managing the operations and making the business grow. Jimmy Tong also worked at United Overseas Bank for a time before that. He had leadership roles at United Overseas Bank and learned a lot, about the industry over fifteen years.
Tong has a career that shows he is good at planning. He really knows the market. Liberty thinks these are qualities because they want to grow in the Asia Pacific region. Tong will be, in charge of what the company does every day. He will also think about how the company can grow in the term. Tong will be the person that Liberty talks to when they need to deal with people who make rules, brokers and big clients in Singapore and other places.
Leadership Vision and Regional Focus
Tong will report directly to Matthew Jackson, President of Liberty Asia Pacific. The company says that for 2026 Liberty Asia Pacific wants to work as a team in each market. They want to make their products work better together and build relationships with the people they do business with. Matthew Jackson is really happy that Tong is, on board. He thinks this is a way to start the year. Matthew Jackson believes that Tong will help Liberty Asia Pacific keep growing and changing with the market. Liberty Asia Pacific is looking to Tong to make a difference.
Liberty Singapore is now one company. It provides many different kinds of insurance. This includes insurance for individuals, businesses and special products for medium sized companies. Mr Tong is in charge. He is going to help Liberty Singapore come up with new ideas for these insurance products. Liberty Singapore needs to make sure it is giving customers what they want and also following the rules in Singapore, which’s a very important place for money and business, in Asia. Liberty Singapore has to do all this while also taking care of the rules that the government has set.
Organizational Realignment
Liberty is making some changes in Singapore. They have appointed Tong to a role. At the time Yasar Fistikci is taking on a new job. He used to be the CEO of Liberty Insurance. Now he will be the Chief Product Officer for Liberty in Singapore.
Nicole Lim is leaving Liberty Specialty Markets Singapore. She is the CEO and will leave the company at the end of April. Nicole Lim will look for opportunities, outside of Liberty.
